Red, White and Blue Fireworks Giveaway

Check out books 11 and 12!

ARC of August release

Miss Kate Daltry doesn’t believe in fairy tales… or happily ever after.

Forced by her stepmother to attend a ball, Kate meets a prince… and decides he’s anything but charming. A clash of wits and wills ensues, but they both know their irresistible attraction will lead nowhere. For Gabriel is promised to another woman—a princess whose hand in marriage will fulfill his ruthless ambitions.

Gabriel likes his fiancé, which is a welcome turn of events, but he doesn’t love her. Obviously, he should be wooing his bride-to-be, not the witty, impoverished beauty who refuses to fawn over him.

Godmothers and glass slippers notwithstanding, this is one fairy tale in which destiny conspires to destroy any chance that Kate and Gabriel might have a happily ever after.

Unless a prince throws away everything that makes him noble…

Fast track up the political ladder, fast cars, fast women—that’s Garrett McKettrick. Make that was. A scandal has brought him home to Blue River, a place where a man can slow down, take stock and plan his next move. Which doesn’t include staying at the family ranch with his brothers. A city boy for a long time now, Garrett doesn’t think he has the land in his blood anymore. But Blue River has other attractions, like his former high school nemesis, Julie Remington.

Now a striking woman and much-respected teacher, Julie comes complete with a precocious four-year-old cowboy, a three-legged beagle and deep ties to the community. Good thing they have nothing in common—except their undeniable attraction and a future brighter than the Texas sun.

Blog Tour and Contest News

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Today, I’m over on Farrah Rochon’s Blog, chatting about one of my favourite things–my total love of series. And I’m giving away a copy of Sinful Surrender. ;) Stop by, meet Farrah (she’s fabulous), and say hi!

In other news, wouldn’t you love to plot a Regency novella without actually writing it? Well you can and win a $1000 American Gift Card while you’re at it. What’s going on?

Four stories, four authors, one theme: that was the idea behind the bestselling anthology It Happened One Night. Now, Stephanie Laurens, Mary Balogh, Jacquie D’Alessandro and Candice Hern return to write four stories ultimately chosen by readers, in IT HAPPENED ONE SEASON.

Interested? Please visit www.ItHappenedOneSeason.com to suggest your story.  It must take place during the Regency social season. And you must include three specific plot points (such as these used for the anthology It Happened One Night: (1) a couple meets at an inn 2) they had met before but not within the past ten years 3) the whole story takes place within a 24 hour period.)

About the Contest

Submit three specific plot elements and your ideas could create the theme of the four tales in the new anthology collection, IT HAPPENED ONE SEASON.

The authors choose the four finalists.

The readers vote on the ultimate favorite and one lucky winner will see their dream come true.

The grand prize winner will be acknowledged on the dedication page of IT HAPPENED ONE SEASON and receive a $1,000 American Express gift card and a copy signed by all 4 authors. Semi-finalists will receive $100 American Express gift cards and a set of personalized autographed books.

Deadline for ideas: February 14, 2010
Round two/general voting begins: February 25, 2010
Winner announced: March 14, 2010

Note: Contest is open to US residents only, age 18 or older.

Visit www.ithappenedoneseason.com for more details.

Doesn’t that sound fun? I’m cementing my idea because I intend to win! ;)

Trying some new stuff

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I think I’ve already stated that I don’t particularly like to blog. The idea of having to come up with interesting things to say every week, whether it be once a week or five times a week is…well daunting to say the least. My world of writing is, well, just not THAT interesting. However, others have interesting things to say, not only about themselves, but about their work, the craft, they have opinions about the books they read. With that in mind, I’ve come up with Excerpt Thursdays.

What is that you ask? Well, for myself, I know that sometimes the back cover blurb isn’t enough to completely hook me. For example, I had nothing to do with the back cover blurb for my book, Sinful Surrender, and I’m almost certain most authors have little to no say in the matter. It’s all marketing. Which is not to say they don’t do a great job, but sometimes parts of the plot the author would like to convey to the reader doesn’t quite make its way into the blurb. However, a really ‘hookable’ excerpt combined with what I already know about the plot will definitely move me to purchase a book.

So that’s the purpose of Excerpt Thursdays, to hook you. To make you say, I’ve got to have that book. I’ll be posting 2-3 ‘hookable’ excerpts every week and you’ll be the judge as to whether it’s enough to compel you to buy the book or begin the anticipation dance for the book to hit the stores. On the other hand, it may just leave you cold. What do you think? How much can or does a ‘juicy’ excerpt influence your book buying decision?

Is an excerpt a good indicator of how good a book is?

Authors, if you’d like an excerpt of your book featured here on Excerpt Thursdays, please contact me at historicals at historicalromancereleases.com.
1. The book should be fairly current (as in within a year of release or re-release date).
2. The excerpts are limited to 500 words with an additional paragraph to set the scene should one be required.
3. Genres welcome are, of course, historicals, contemporaries, and paranormals.
4. Please supply image of book cover.
5. Currently, I’m taking one excerpt per author every 2 months. This rule doesn’t apply if you’re writing under 2 (two) separate names.

In other news, for those looking for the winners of Lori Brighton’s debut, WILD HEART, I’ll be picking the winners tonight at 10:00 pm EST. And Katiebabs is stopping by tomorrow so make sure you stop by.

I’ve also added Excerpt Thursdays to the weekly posts, where I’ll be giving you a taste of 3 hookable  excerpts that are going to make you want to run out and pick up the book NOW!

What’s in store…

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Starting Monday, I have a packed schedule here on The Season’s Blog, which is a great thing. But like many of you, I like to be informed, so I’m going to give you a run down of who’s blogging when and what books are being given away on which dates. Before I do so, take a long hard look at your teetering TBR pile and know this, it could become a whole lot more…teetering.

Monday: Katiebabs will be here to chat about some of the debut books that caught her eye this year. Two of our giveaways made her list!
Giveaways (2 copies/8 winners) : Renegade, The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker (say that 5 times fast. LOL. Luv ya Leanna ;) ), Lady of Scandal and Too Hot for a Spy

Tuesday: Historical author Sabrina Darby is blogging and giving away 5 (yep, that’s FIVE) copies of her debut Avon Red novel, On These Silken Sheets.
Giveaways (5 winners) : Mastering the Marquess, The Conqueror, Her Ladyship’s Companion

Wednesday: Avon’s  Lavinia Kent is blogging and giving away 2  copies of her debut historical, A Talent for Sin.

Thursday: Avon’s Miranda Neville is blogging and giving away 2 copies of her debut historical, Never Resist Temptation.

Surprise: Yep, there’s that too. :) One lucky commenter will win a copy of The Season’s Surprise 2010 debut historical ARC. Make sure you check back to see who it is and what sumptuous book she has in store for readers next year. It’s a definite winner!

Friday: Boo! Yep, on Hallow’s Eve prepared to be spooked. Avon’s Pamela Palmer is blogging and chatting about her back-to-back trilogy. One lucky commenter will win the entire set, which includes Desire Untamed, Obsession Untamed and Passion Untamed.
Giveaways (5 winners): Jaime Rush’s Out of Darkness. And so you don’t go to bed terribly spooked, I’m lightening it up with a contemporary from Kensington’s Pauline Trent; Falling in Love.

***Quantities above subject to change without notice. Books may be added to already extensive list. ;)

Check out the post below if you want to comment to win any of the 4 (four) kick off books!

Paranormals Anyone?

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I’m gearing up for next week’s 2009 Debut Giveaway. We’ll have debut authors blogging and I’ll be giving away most of the debut historical romances that came out this year. And on Hallow’s Eve, I want everyone spooked so we’ll be taking a small break from historicals and entering the world of paranormals. Yes, as promised, I’ve added another section to the website, which has been (I believe) aptly titled A Pinch of Paranormal. Currently I have 4 (four) books each up for the months of November and December. Check out them out!

But first we must celebrate this new addition to the site must we not? So tomorrow (October 20th) I’ll be giving away an advanced copy of Terri Garey’s November release, SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT, to one lucky commenter.

Silent Night, Haunted Night Joe Bascombe is no stranger to desire, but when a sexy spirit begins haunting his dreams, he finds himself ensnared by dark passions. What he doesn’t realize is that the devious demon and her two sisters, otherwise known as the Three Fates, are out to teach the woman he loves a lesson . . .

Unwilling psychic Nicki Styx survived a near-death experience to find herself able to see and hear the dead, but she only has eyes for Joe. Together they’ve conquered evil spirits, saved lost souls, and beaten back the Devil himself, but they’re about to learn that there are more things in Heaven and Hell than they ever imagined. As far as Nicki is concerned, Joe is the man of her dreams, but now they’re at the mercy of the creature who’s invaded his.

It’ll be a Christmas to remember . . . and it could be Joe and Nicki’s last.

Surrender of a SirenStill looking for your historical fix? For newsletter and forum members, I’m giving away a copy of Readers’ Top Pick for the month of September, Tessa Dare’s SURRENDER OF A SIREN. Click here on how to enter to win.

And for more historical freebies, visit Anna Campbell over at Romantic Crush Junkies where she’s giving away 2 (two) copies of her November release, CAPTIVE OF SIN.
