My October release, JANE AUSTEN: BLOOD PERSUASION, is about Jane Austen as a vampire. To write it, I had to learn something about vampires—easy: You sift through the vampire lore and use what suits the plot. I also thought I knew quite a lot about Jane Austen. I didn’t. I wasn’t even sure what I thought about her, other than loving her books, being annoyed by her letters, and critical of most of the movie versions.

The only genre I don’t have right now is romantic suspense. But I do have something from the other genres I feature and review on the site. These are the books I’m giving away today. And for the mystery lovers, you’re in for a special treat–as I don’t usually have mysteries to give away–as MRS. JEFFRIES & THE MISTLETOE MIX-UP is a wonderful Victorian mystery as well as a November advance release and a hardcover. Given the voracious reading appetite of many romance readers, it’s nearly mandatory to find books by prowling the new book section of your bookstore or library. I cull for new reads at my local library and Barnes & Noble Nook Book new releases daily in hopes of finding a great new book. It’s difficult to imagine I have missed books but is always a welcome surprise when I read a newly discovered treasure. I am pleased to share some of these gems with other readers in this inaugural edition of Did You Miss…
Below I have 5 (five) books up for grabs from 2 publishers who supply The Season with the most books to give away — HarperCollins and Penguin Group. Below that I have a poll I’d like you to answer when you comment to enter one of these books. I don’t think you say Happy Labour Day do you? It just doesn’t seem to fit, right?
