Is it just me, or do the contemporary romance offerings just get better and better every month? I’ve read several fantastic novels coming out this month, and there are others I can’t wait to read.
Here are my top picks for the end of October and November.

THE COMFORTS OF HOME will be hitting the stands on Nov. 1, 2011 and I’m very excited to see my people of Harmony, Texas come alive. In my mind they already are and sometimes I feel like they’re so real that I could pack my bag and go down for a visit any time I liked.
My October release, JANE AUSTEN: BLOOD PERSUASION, is about Jane Austen as a vampire. To write it, I had to learn something about vampires—easy: You sift through the vampire lore and use what suits the plot. I also thought I knew quite a lot about Jane Austen. I didn’t. I wasn’t even sure what I thought about her, other than loving her books, being annoyed by her letters, and critical of most of the movie versions.

So I’ve recently become extremely enamored of Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the Thor movie.
He’s just so handsome and talented and he has such lovely hair and when he talks about acting, I want to swoon because he has such smart things to say.
I know it’s a bit too soon, but I have Christmas on my mind already. My newest romance, It Happened One Christmas, is being released this week and so I’ve been thinking about the most wonderful time of the year a little earlier than usual.

Back in the early 90s, when I first started reading romance, I remember reading a few books where there was a big age difference between the hero and heroine. Of course, the hero was always the older one.
In one book, the hero was in his late 30s and ended up with a 19-year-old woman. At the time, that didn’t gross me out because I was barely a teenager…37 and 19 seemed equally elderly to me. But now that I’m older, that age difference isn’t romantic—it’s grooming.

Given the voracious reading appetite of many romance readers, it’s nearly mandatory to find books by prowling the new book section of your bookstore or library. I cull for new reads at my local library and Barnes & Noble Nook Book new releases daily in hopes of finding a great new book. It’s difficult to imagine I have missed books but is always a welcome surprise when I read a newly discovered treasure. When I was 20, a random guy on campus asked me to go to dinner with him. Being a suspicious girl living in LA, I told him I’d pick him up—why give a potential serial killer your address, right?
On our first date, I found out he had a son. I won’t lie—it was a little surprising, since he was 23 and had sole custody of his six-year-old boy. But I admired him for being a devoted dad.
On our second date, I found out he also had a daughter. She lived in a different state with her mom.

6 - Erotic – Extremely explicit language and lovemaking scenes. This includes BDSM, ménage a trios.
5 – Scorching – Explicit lovemaking scenes and language.
4 – Hot – Very hot lovemaking scenes. This includes oral sex but no more.
3 – Sensual – Lovemaking scenes are hot but not as detailed or long as Heat Level 4
2 – Mild – Lovemaking scenes are short. Very little detail.
1 – Inspy – Lovemaking scenes are practically non-existent. Kissing but definite closed door policy.
