Is love meant to be?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Please welcome the fabulous Sarah Mayberry to the blog today. If you haven’t read her yet, you should. She’s one of my favourite authors, and I’ve read every single book she’s ever published. Hot Island Nights is the solitary Contemporary Romance Top Pick this month. Check out my review of it here.

~**~**~

Do you believe that some relationships are Meant To Be?

I was thinking about this question this weekend, spurred on by the fantastic Yvonne Lindsay book I’m reading.  Stand In Bride’s Seduction is about one of those classic romance novel situations – an identical twin is asked by her sister to stand in for her with her fiance while the first sister rushes off to deal with a mysterious crisis. Of course, the first sister and the hero have no chemistry, but things are hugely different with the stand-in sister – even though they’re identical twins, there’s just something about the second sister that cooks the hero’s goose.
Which, as I said, got me thinking. There are lots of scientific theories about sexual attraction and love and pheromones, but as a romance reader (and writer!) I tend to favor the idea that some couples are just meant to be.  I know of a real life example of this – my good friend and her husband met while they were both working overseas and the night of their first date, she went home and told her flat mate that he was the man she was going to marry. Two weeks later, he proposed, and she said yes.  Ten years later, they have three children and a great marriage.

As a big believer in love, I am seriously invested in the idea that sometimes you just know that the person standing across the room from you is The One. It appeals to me on so many levels, even though I know that in real life love probably sneaks up on most of us in small increments as intimacy deepens.

As a writer, I like to play with the idea that sometimes my characters are aware on a deeply unconscious level that the other person is The One – but for reasons of their own they’re not quite ready to plunge head-first into all that that represents.  Sometimes that unwelcome awareness manifests itself as a niggling sort of irritation with the other person - why are they unsettling me so much? Why do I feel so uncomfortable when they’re around? – and other times it manifests itself as straight-up I-can’t-stand-you conflict.

In my current release, Hot Island Nights, my hero and heroine definitely do not hit it off on their first meeting, even though on a very primitive level they are aware of each other. Elizabeth is tired and jet-lagged and keyed up, having flown all the way from England to hunt down the man she believes is her biological father, while Nate is hung-over and deeply reluctant to get sucked into someone else’s personal crisis. As Elizabeth eventually discovers, Nate may look like a care-for-nothing surfie with a hot body and no conscience, but in reality he is doing his best to cope with the aftermath of serious trauma.

Elizabeth Morgan didn’t intend to abandon her very proper life. But that’s the best way to find her true—and less proper—self. So here she is in Australia, standing in front of a man who’s clad only in a towel. Nathan Jones is so tempting he could be the ideal candidate to help this good girl be very bad!

Sure enough, thanks to Nathan’s talented hands, Elizabeth is living all her sensual fantasies. And while the sex is great, something more is developing. She trusts him, and wants to share her secrets with him, and… Suddenly this feels more like a real relationship than some fun in the sun. Luckily, there’s a cure for too much commitment—more wickedness!

These two people need each other – they just don’t know it in those first few moments. But they also can’t stay away from or stop thinking thinking about each other.  And when Elizabeth discovers the extent of Nate’s problems – and they’re sizable – she faces a tough choice: disengage and move on from the messy, difficult challenge he represents, or dig in and do her best to help him come to terms with his past. A hard decision to make at the best of times, but when her fling with Nate is supposed to be a holiday romance, it becomes even more daunting.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and stories about instant attraction, love at first sight and The One. Do you believe in any of the above? If not, why not? And if you do, what makes you believe? I’ll be giving away 2 (two copies) of Hot Island Nights to two random posters  – just comment and you’ll be in the running to win. So, over to you… I’m looking forward to your responses.

Amanda Berry Interview ~ L.A. Cinderella

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Today we have Amanda Berry, a Silhouette Special Edition Debut Author chatting with us on the blog. For debut authors, we have to extend an extra warm welcome because the first time is always special and pretty darn exciting. Amanda also didn’t come empty handed. She’s giving away an autographed copy of L.A CINDERELLA! Welcome, Amanda, thanks for joining us today.

~*~*~

Debut Author!

Amanda, since this is your debut novel, can you tell us how many manuscripts you completed before you sold this one?

Beverley, thank you for having me on your blog. I completed a fantasy romance that will never be revised and never see the light of day. My second book was a paranormal romance which has been a finalist in multiple contests and I’m currently working on a complete rewrite. L.A. Cinderella was the third book I completed. We won’t discuss how many I started before finishing that first one. :)

I love first call stories. Please tell us yours.

L.A. Cinderella won first place in the Marlene contest and garnered a full request from Patience Smith. About three months after I submitted, I got the call the Friday before Labor Day. I was going to head out to a write-in given by my local RWA chapter and noticed a phone call from New York had come through on my cell phone. When I played the voice mail, it was Patience. It was incredibly hard to dial my little buttons with my shaking hands, but I managed.

Can you tell us a little about L.A. Cinderella?

Chase Booker is an A-list actor born into Hollywood royalty. When his movie production company isn’t making the money it should, his CFO hires hopelessly shy Natalie Collins. Natalie prefers to fade into the background and hide behind her numbers. When she’s forced to ask for Chase’s help in uncovering an embezzlement scheme, their attraction takes front stage. When Chase and Natalie try to fly under the radar with their affair, a disgruntled CFO, a fame seeking actress, and a world of paparazzi stand in their way.

I, like millions of other readers, cut my teeth on Harlequin romance novels. Was that the same for you?

My first romance novels were Silhouette Desires and Special Editions. I then moved on to Historical Romances, which I adore to read, but I don’t think I’d be able to write. But never say never. :)

When did you decide you wanted to write them?

When I picked up writing again after my son was born, I targeted Harlequin Temptation but never finished the book because I had a lot to learn. When I finally decided to really try to write as my career, I started with paranormal romance because I love them. I took a class on Writing the Selling Silhouette Desire and Natalie and Chase were born. I love having the light contemporaries to pull me out of the dark paranormals. The characters are fun to explore and develop.

Career-driven accountant Natalie Collins wasn’t the type to wish for a Hollywood hero to rescue her. She preferred life away from celebrity glitz. Too bad the man who drove her wild was an A-list actor.

With her understated beauty and brains, Natalie was the one person Chase Booker could trust. He could see the strong, sexy woman beneath her shy exterior, and she stirred a blinding passion in him that made it easy to forget that they were from different worlds. But when she was in his arms, their worlds were dangerously close to colliding….

~~~
What do you find appealing about Silhouette Special Edition books?
*blush* Well, originally I was targeting Silhouette Desire, but Patience thought L.A. Cinderella would be a better fit for Special Edition. After reading some of the newer books in the line, I can understand why. I love the extra space Special Editions have to really explore my characters.
Do you prefer beta or alpha heroes?
My heroes tend to be a mix of both. Alpha when a strong hand is needed, but tender enough when needed. I think realistically characters need attributes of both to really appeal to today’s readers.
What’s coming up next for you? Can you tell us anything about your second book?
I’m working frantically on the revisions, but nothing is in concrete yet. The tentative title is Casanova Exposed. My hero is a playboy who meets his match in a tabloid reporter. I had way too much fun writing Mark, the hero. He’s a player through and through, and a whole lot of man.
Beverley, thanks again for inviting me to your blog.
What kind of Hollywood story would you like to read? Which tabloid articles catch your eye? Would you ever be willing to live in the spotlight if it meant you got the man of your dreams?
After an exciting life as a CPA, Amanda Berry returned to writing when her husband swept the family off to England to live for a year. Now she’s hooked, and since returning to the states spends her writing days concocting spicy contemporary romances while her cats try in vain to pry her hands off the keyboard. Her Marlene Award–winning contemporary romance, L.A. Cinderella, debuts from Silhouette Special Edition in June 2010. One thing she requires of all her books is a happily ever after. Amanda lives in the Midwest with her husband and two children. For more information, please visit www.amanda-berry.com.
Review: To Kiss A Count
Comment to enter to win the entire trilogy: To Catch a Rogue, To Deceive a Duke and To Kiss a Count!
To Kiss a Count
Author: Amanda McCabe
Publisher: Harlequin Historicals
Pub. Date: June 1, 2010
ISBN-13: 978-0373295975
Her dashing nobleman
Leaving exotic Sicily behind, and with it her heart, Thalia Chase returns to England to visit her sister–and to try and forget the enigmatic Italian Count di Fabrizzi. She’s shocked to suddenly see him in Bath–and in the company of a suspected thief!
His determined lady
Marco, Count di Fabrizzi, is on a dangerous mission and doesn’t need the beautiful Lady Chase hindering his progress. But she is intent on adventure–so what is a gentleman to do when a lady is so insistent, and so very passionate?
~*~*~
TO KISS A COUNT by Amanda McCabe is the third book in her Muse sister trilogy. Thalia Chase has watched her two sisters’ fall in love and have adventures and all she really wants is her turn and one man.
Marco, Count di Fabrizzi, is on a mission to find something of great importance to his home country of Italy, but he can’t get Thalia out of his head. These two were made for each other and the excitement in getting to see them together was a lot of fun.
My favorite part of the book was anytime Thalia and Marco found themselves alone. He couldn’t keep his hands off of her no matter how hard he tried. And although not explicit at all, their exchanges were HOT!
“Cara, I waned you once – forget about me,” he said, his accent heavy as fine satin. Suddenly, quick as a lightning strike, he seized her by the waist, lifting her off her feet as he twirled her around. Before she could even draw breath, their positions were reversed, and he held her captive.
She tightened her grasp on his hair, holding on as the whole world tilted around her.
“But you would not listen,” he murmured in her ear, his warm breath stirring her hair. She shivered, her thoughts turning hazy and unreal. “I will not warn you twice.”
And he kissed her, but not just any kiss. His mouth crashed down on hers, hungry and hot. Thalia’s lips parted, his tongue darting out to seek hers, to taste her deeply.”
It was easy to fall in love with Marco and be delighted that Thalia finally got her adventure. I would suggest reading the first two books in the series: TO CATCH A ROGUE and TO DECIEVE A DUKE. While I do believe that the story flows well as a stand alone there are a few plot points that make sense due to what happened in the first two books. This is my only real complaint about this book. There is a lot of back story and if I hadn’t read the first two in the series I might not have been able to enjoy this one as much. Plus, they are both fantastic reads and very enjoyable.
This book is perfect for reading on a sunny spring day, just be prepared to daydream about handsome Italian Counts and hot kisses in darkened hallways.
Review: To Deceive a Duke
To Deceive a Duke
Author: Amanda McCabe
Publisher: Harlequin Historicals
Pub. Date: May 1, 2010
ISBN-13: 978-0373295937
Retail: $5.99
288 pages
Clio Chase is hoping for a quiet season in Sicily with her family. There, she can forget all about the enigmatic Duke of Averton and the strange effect he has on her. That is until he unexpectedly arrives, shattering her peace and warning her of trouble….
The unsettling attraction is still strong between them, despite the secrets they hide. But, as the unknown threat grows, they are thrown together in the most intimate of ways. Clio knows there is only so long she can resist her mysterious duke!
~*~*~
Amanda McCabe delivers another solid, entertaining read that follows the adventuring-loving Chase sisters in the sun-soaked Italian countryside in their pursuit of ancient ruins.
To Deceive a Duke seamlessly picks up where To Catch a Rogue left off. Rogue was the story of the oldest Chase – Calliope (Cali) that also introduced her younger sisters Clio, Thalia and Cory – a.k.a. the Chase Muses – a family of educated, aristocratic young women dedicated to the antiquities and addicted to adventure.
Readers join the fiercely independent Chase women; Clio and younger sister Thalia accompanied by their widower father, Sir Walter Chase, now temporarily ensconced (from their native England) in Santa Lucia, Italy to excavate and preserve a site of ancient ruins as part of their lifelong quest to unearth and protect Greek and Roman antiquities. Cali, now wed to Lord Westwood, is on her honeymoon. As Clio works to put her past behind her in favor of more acceptable pastimes, Thalia emerges as a talented writer and actress.
Both sisters are charmingly brought to the forefront with their own distinctive voices, and personalities and of course, secrets, woven into the plot. While hard-working, determined Clio enjoys the darker side of adventure and mystery, Thalia, an irreverent, creative spirit sparks the interest of Count di Fabrizzi whose mysterious appearance at the side of the Lily Thief in the previous novel, left readers to wonder and wait.
As the Chase family settles in, the enigmatic Edward Radcliffe, Duke of Averton, arrives in Santa Lucia in pursuit of antiquities, a nobler principle and Clio. His unexpected appearance creates tension for both Clio and the reader as we try to unravel his purpose and reconcile his eccentric public persona with his private, more refined side.
Drawn together by a common passion for ancient artifacts and each other, Edward has traveled from England to protect Clio and his mission, both of which become unavoidably intertwined. Readers can definitely feel Clio’s struggles and her passion for her vocation even as she wars with herself over her former life, and growing attraction to Edward. The tension between the two builds nicely but Edward’s dialogue for me fell a bit short at times until some of his back story and pain was revealed.
While the love scenes were tender and passionate, they bordered on sweet rather than intense but this fit well with the Edward we come to know and the confidence that blossoms within Clio.
Mystery mixed with Italian superstition and impending peril are heightened as fellow Britons descend upon Sicily for a brief season, partaking of the theatre and all that is Italian. Presented to readers are the flamboyant Lady Riverton and her companion, Ronald Frobisher while the dashing Count di Fabrizzi is re-introduced to readers.
McCabe has skillfully blended the first ‘Chase’ book with the second incorporating romance and intrigue with danger while allowing the full development and exploration of the characters of Edward and Clio. Thalia is a delightful contrast to her sister with a seemingly irrepressible soul, leaving us wanting to see more of her. (Good news – there’s a third book!).
Another well-paced, story with fresh descriptions set amidst a romantic setting on the Sicilian coast, To Deceive a Duke gives us a strong sense of place, history and people as well as smooth characters arcs and clever plot twists to supply a fun and satisfying page-turner.
Review: Secrets of the Playboy’s Bride
Secrets of the Playboy’s Bride
Author: Leanne Banks
Publisher: Silhouette Desire/Harlequin
Pub. Date: March 1, 2010
ISBN-13: 978-1426849978
Retail: $4.75
192 pages
Success was one thing…acceptance, another. All his life, Leonardo Grant had yearned to be more than his rough beginnings had allowed. Now, after making millions, he believed marriage to the right woman could secure him the respect no amount of money could.
When Leo spotted Calista French, he knew he’d found his foil. But their chance meeting had actually been carefully orchestrated…and not by him. Just what was his “perfect” society wife planning?
~*~*~
Secrets of a Playboy’s Bride takes place in society of Philadelphia. Calista French is a society woman. Even though she no longer has the money, she has the pedigree. But deep down inside Calista is a simple girl who just wants to take care of her sisters, her needs are secondary. She works, she volunteers and she visits with her sisters when she can. The problem is she needs money and Leonardo Grant has that money. He can provide her with a safe life and college education for her sisters. She doesn’t need a relationship or love, she just needs him to help her out and she figures he owes her because of the con he and his father pulled on Calista’s.
Leo has the fortune and the drive to be even more successful in business. A self-made man who rose up from his adoptive father’s con games. He can’t remember the time before the accident that claimed his parents’ lives, he only knows the hard childhood from which he escaped. Now the one thing he needs is a society wife to get him into Philadelphia society, so when Calista French falls into his arms, he knows she is the perfect wife. He, like her, doesn’t really want attachments, just the wife on his arm to get him into society.
Neither Calista or Leo figure on falling in love, but they do just that. Both have secrets but will those secrets stand in the way of their love?
The plot in Secrets of a Playboy’s Bride is predictable but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable. I also enjoyed the characters. Calista is an admirable person and Leo makes himself out to be a bad boy, but really he’s just scarred from his childhood. When Calista and Leo come together the sparks fly and I enjoyed watching their love unfold. They are both stubborn which is fun, but eventually they discover things about each other that help the love unfold.
If you want an easy afternoon love story, then this is the book for you. It’s actually part of a mini-series by Leanne Banks, but this is the first one I’ve read. The only time the mini-series really comes into play is at the end, so I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything by not reading the previous books. Though I admit I am intrigued by the storyline of the mini-series and will seek out the other books.
Review: Hero At Large
Hero At Large
Author: Janet Evanovich
Publisher: Avon/HarperCollins
Pub. Date: March 30, 2010
ISBN-13: 978-0061985942
Retail: $7.99
320 pages
In a previous life, before the time of Plum, I wrote twelve short romance novels. Red-hot screwball comedies, each and every one of them. The romances were originally published between the years 1988 and 1992. All immediately went out of print and could be found only at used bookstores and yard sales.
I’m happy to tell you that those stories have now been re-released by HarperCollins, presented in almost original form. I’ve done only minor editing to correct some embarrassing bloopers missed the first time around.
Hero at Large was the very first book published. It’s about a sexy guy who cooks a potholder in spaghetti sauce and charms a single mom and former world-class ice skater with the promise of a ride on his Zamboni. It’s got broken bones, giant turkeys, cantankerous cars, and Aunt Edna.
This was the book that changed my life forever and made me a published author. When Hero finally reached the bookstores, I was almost arrested for loitering in Walden’s. I stationed myself in the romance section and wouldn’t leave until I saw someone buy my book. It took three days!
~*~*~
Janet Evanovich’s “Hero at Large” is a great, funny and easy read! I sat down to read this book and an hour and a half later, found myself reading the very last page!!
I’m a huge fan of Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books. I devour each the day that they are released, always kicking myself for reading them so fast! So needless to say I jumped at the chance to review her latest release, “Hero at Large”. This was my first time reading a romance by Evanovich, so I wasn’t sure if it was going to remain along the lines of the Plum series, with humor thrown into the mix.
In this book we’re introduced to Chris Nelson, former champion figure skater and single mother, who is having a battle with her vehicle, which eventually dies on her in the middle of a busy road in Fairfax, Virginia. The very handsome Ken Callahan stops to help. Instantly Chris feels drawn to him, a fact that shocks and surprises her, so much so that she drops the hood onto his arms, breaking one of them. Chris is obliged to drive Ken and his huge rottweiller (named Dog, but later renamed Bob), to the hospital. Ken flirts with Chris on the drive and convinces her to stay with him at the hospital.
Through a chain of hilarious conversations between the Chris, Ken and Chris’s Aunt Edna, it’s decided that Ken will rent out a room in the house, much to Chris’s dismay. The two play a cat and mouse game filled with sexual tension. And a lot of it. They both know that they want to take things to the next level, but Chris holds her ground, much to Ken’s dismay. Chris’s friend keeps pointing out that Ken looks familiar, but she can’t put her finger on why. After succumbing to the sexual tension and promptly becoming engaged, it’s revealed that Ken isn’t exactly who he says he is, which turns Chris’s world upside down. I’d go into more detail as to what happens next, but I won’t…You have to read it to find out for yourself!
Janet Evanovich has a brilliant eye for humor and detail. She draws you into the lives of her characters. She has such a wonderful knack for creating stories that you don’t want to end!
My only qualm with the book is that there is such a HUGE build up of sexual tension between Chris and Ken, but when it comes to them actually making love, it only gets a two sentence focus in the book. I would have liked a bit more description of the lovemaking, only because the buildup was so fantastic and descriptive. It felt like someone doused the fires with a pail of cold water.
Like I said earlier, I love the Plum series and those of you who have also read those books will recognize the same basis of characters from the Plum novels. The car issues, the dog named Bob and Aunt Edna are similar to Grandma Mazur! It’s refreshing to see that Evanovich keeps her plotlines and humor similar in other books, especially when they work so fantastically!
This is a must read for all fans of Janet Evanovich and contemporary romance.
Review: Hot Westmoreland Nights
Hot Westmoreland Nights
Author: Brenda Jackson
Publisher: Harlequin/Silhouette Desire
Pub. Date: March 1, 2010
ISBN-13: 978-0373730131
Retail: $4.75
192 pages
If you can’t stand the heat . . .
He knew better than to lust after the hired help. But Ramsey Westmoreland’s new cook was just so delectable . . . it was enough to make the Denver rancher rethink his rules. When temptation got the best of him, he discovered Chloe Burton was just as hot in the bedroom as she was in the kitchen.
Though their affair was growing steamier by the minute, Ramsey couldn’t help but question Chloe’s true motives. And when he discovered her ultimate betrayal, he was set to satisfy himself with cold showers. Until he realized his fatal mistake: never underestimate the power of the human heart, especially a Westmoreland’s.
~*~*~
Hot Westmoreland Nights got off to a slow start for me, but it wasn’t the author’s fault. There are some things that you come to expect when you pick up a HQ/SIL novel.
For example. I know that secret baby stories annoy the heck out of me. So if I read a blurb where the heroine has a secret, from experience I know it’s going to be a secret baby story and I move on to the next title. The same thing with lying. I hate characters that lie for selfish reasons, so when I see the world betrayal in a HQ/SIL blurb, to me that’s a clue that the hero or heroine is lying and I generally pass. However, although I haven’t read a lot of Brenda Jackson’s Silhouette Desires, I’ve read enough to know that I really like them, so I continued reading. I’m glad I did.
Idle Thoughts on Setting: I think I live in the boonies. One day, I lost my mind and agreed to move from Atlanta, GA to a small (to me) town in Michigan. As a black woman this was a huge culture shock. Since diversity isn’t thick on the ground where I live, I find it hard to believe that theirs so much diversity in Colorado ranch country. Just sayin’. I know romances are supposed to be fantasy (especially HQ/SIL titles) but it pulled me out of the story. I freely admit this is my own bias because I’m so aware of it because of my personal situation. I also freely admit that I could be wrong and often am and there are a lot of black folks in Colorado ranching towns.
Characters: The hero Ramsey Westmoreland was hot. With apologies to my husband, I want my own Ramsey Westmoreland. He’s a well-drawn out likable figure. A man who’s never shirked from responsibility. A real hero, he always does what’s best for his family and his employees. In the first page, the heroine licks her lips at the site of him. At first I found this corny; however, the more Ramsey Westmoreland appeared on page, umm, I started licking my lips too. Chloe, the heroine, took a little bit warming up to. Why? Cause she lied. However, I found myself liking her as the story progressed. Although I felt she should have found a way to tell Ramsey what she wanted from him and why she was there, I found myself liking how she dug down deep and helped him out of his bind.
Plot: It’s a classic misunderstanding plot. However, the author get’s over the ‘why don’t they just sit down and talk things out’ thing by having them either; arguing, being interrupted, or being choke full of sexual tension to think straight.
Sexual Tension: There’s a lot of sexual tension between Ramsey and Chloe. I like how they’re both honest about it and unsure of how to deal with it as they felt that it was something deeper than what each had ever known before. One point kinda annoyed me is the lead up to the first major sex scene. That seemed a little contrived to me. To explain . . . Chloe cooks at his ranch. It’s the weekend, so she goes out with a friend and tells Ramsey she’ll be back Sunday evening to cook his men breakfast that morning. He jumps down her throat for coming back at 11:00 PM and telling her she’s late. I had a WTF moment right there. To give Chloe credit, she felt my WTF moment and had her own WTF moment and told Ramsey that as long as she’s there to cook his men breakfast that AM, what is it to him what time she got home. If you couldn’t tell, this is the moment where I really started liking Chloe :) . Ramsey annoyed the heck out of me there, and I think it was just an excuse for them to argue and have sex. But his behavior didn’t impress me and it was hard to forgive him for that.
(Yes, I know these aren’t real people. But you get my point. At least I hope you do!)
Brenda Jackson’s novels are all about families and family dynamics. While I had a few problems with this novel (lying and the contrived hey how can I get these two in bed original sex scene). I really enjoyed Hot Westmoreland Nights. That is to say . . . Ramsey Westmoreland is Hot.
Categories ~ Those Were The Days
The first romance book I ever read was NO GENTLE POSSESSION - Anne Mather. My older sister, who had to be about 16 at the time, was reading Harlequin Presents. Yes, Harlequin got her with the get 4 free book subscription deal. She, of course, couldn’t afford to keep the subscription, but after 4 free books, she–well we–were hooked. And so began my love affair with category romances, which now, has  spanned decades. I admit I don’t read nearly as much as I used to, but I will faithfully buy Sarah Mayberry.
I started with Harlequin Presents and quickly branched off to its other lines, and as they added more, so did I. Then along came Silhouette Books. Boy, did I think I was in heaven then. Then along came Loveswept. Can anyone say Paradise. Then Harlequin bought Silhouette. Was I bothered by that? Heck no, by then my mother was working for Harlequin in Don Mills, Ontario, and she now received all the Harlequin and Silhouette lines for FREE. Heaven. It was pure blissful HEAVEN. I was not ready for what happened next though, Loveswept disappeared, and I mean like almost overnight. One month I went into the store to make my monthly purchase, only to walk out empty-handed. To this day, I have no idea what happened to that line. I LOVED LOVESWEPT! If anyone has the answer, I wish they’d post it in the comment section because that line holds a dear place in my heart.
Anyway, today I just wanted to highlight my favourites (and there are many). Of course, this isn’t the full complete list but I think it’s about a good 75% of it.  But even out of all the books featured below, here is how I would rank them:
Most Reread ~ Sarah’s Child - Linda Howard – Silhouette Special Edition
Sexiest ~ Mackenzie’s PleasureLinda Howard – Silhouette Intimate Moments
Most Made my Heart Ache ~ Terms of SurrenderJanet Dailey – Silhouette Special Edition
Most Memorable Bite Scene ~ No Gentle PossessionAnne Mather – Harlequin Presents
Best Best Friends to Lovers ~ A Whole New LightSandra Brown – Loveswept
Best Dated Both Brothers ~ Southern NightsJanet Dailey – Harlequin Presents
Best Marriage by Deception ~ Alien WifeAnne Mather – Harlequin Presents
