The May issue of The Season is up!

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

First and foremost, to all those who celebrate this day:

HAPPY EASTER!

Second, the May issue of The Season is up–yeah just in time for the May releases, which will begin coming out on Tuesday. I’ve made some changes to the book pages and added Comment/Rating functionality for all books. I’ll be giving out weekly books (5 new releases) to readers who post reviews and one $25 Gift Certificate monthly. Watch out in the coming months for even more changes like weekly rankings by Page Views and Review Ratings.

In the meanwhile, I hope you’ll check out the new issue and click the Facebook ‘Like’ link below ARCHIVES on the homepage.

Have a great Easter Sunday! I’ll see you tomorrow.

The April issue is up!

A very quick post to let you know the April issue of The Season is finally up! I’ll be back later to post some more winners. :)

Contests!!!

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

My March Contest is up on my site! This month, I’m doing a Book-A-Month for a Year Giveaway. It will work something like this, the winner will receive a list of 15 books every month to choose from, and they will select 1 (one). I will then send them whichever book they select  every month for an entire year, totaling 12 current releases. I will initially ask winner what their genre preference is before I send them the selection choices. Click here to enter.

The contest I’m most excited about this year, is The Season’s Annual Unpublished Writing Contest.  For the past two years, I’ve tried to get unpublished authors’ manuscripts in front of agents and editors, which was lots of fun. This year, given the popularity of digital books and self-publishing, I’ve decided to do something different, and hopefully for participants, just as fun and helpful. This year the winner’s book will be self-published with The Season’s total cooperation.  The winner will receive:

  • A professionally designed cover that author has 100% input.
  • Editorial assistance.
  • Promotion and Marketing (blog tour, ad spot, newsletter mailing, reviews)
  • Author keeps ALL the profits
  • uploading book onto Amazon, B&N and Smashwords etc.

I will be begin accepting entries June 1, 2011 (pitch letter, first 3 pages and synopsis). Genres included are romance (all sub-genres), cozy mystery and YA (young adult). As the time draws closer, I’ll be posting more information about the contest.

Monday, December 20th, 2010

So here are the Historical Debuts of 2010! So what do you think of this year’s crop? Are there any that struck you as particularly memorable for whatever reason–good or bad? Any you still plan to read but had just never heard about? Any you would recommend? I’m giving away a bunch of prizes but I’m not saying exactly for what because I don’t want to skew the answers. Be honest and you have a chance of winning.  Tell me how many of the below debuts have you’ve read and answer one of the other questions above and you’ll be entered to win.

The Season December issue is up!

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

Yep, it’s already that time. Okay, so it’s past that time by about a day but what matters is that the December issue is finally up on the site.

WHAT’S NEW

Month-At-A-Glance:

Have you noticed that the releases aren’t grouped in any particular order except by genre. That’s because I put the pages together as I get the reviews in OR if I received the book early enough to determine that I should have a review for it by the go live date.

Here’s the problem with my no order presentation–no one knows what book is on the next page or what rating it received until they stumble upon it. Hey, I’m easy, I don’t mind that kind of surprises but some folks don’t. So for my visitors who want to see the books based on their rating so they can cherry pick the reviews they want to read, I’ve added a Month-At-A-Glance page to all the genres (Mystery will be coming later once I start getting the December reviews for them).

Historical Month-At-A-Glance

Weekly Giveaway:

I’m giving away 6 fabulous releases, all books featured in the December issue. Not only are the books featured on the Home Page but they are all designated with the easy to spot WIN symbol. If the link on the pages don’t work, you can email me at contests at theseasonforromance dot com to enter. Please include your first and last name. On the subject line, please type the title of the book you’re entering to win. If you include your snail mail address, you don’t have to contact me again if you win.

‘Tis The Season Writing Contest Finals:

Today begins the first day of voting in ‘Tis The Season Writing Contest. There are 11 really fine stories posted so I urge you go read, rate and comment. One gifted aspiring author will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card and a 25 page critique of their WIP from their choice of participating editors and agent.
