Holiday Affair is a delightfully fun and entertaining holiday story, sure to bring good tidings of joy and smiles.

Lisa Plumly delivers a bountiful of holiday spirit and the magic of miracles, for two single parents whose lives are anything but settled. Karina is a college counselor and single mom to three very individualistic and rambunctious children. When her husband leaves her for a much younger woman and regresses into a youth he missed out on, complete with rocker hair and eyeliner, Karina is left trying to put the pieces of her family and life back together. Hoping to make their first holiday as a broken family a success for the sake of her children, Karina jumps as the chance to become an undercover evaluator in her sister's place, for a delightfully perfect bed and breakfast, The Christmas House. However, she gets way more than she expects when she reaches The Holiday House and meets the man in charge!

Reid is a single father of two sweet and worldly pre-teen girls. As an adventure trainer, he has traveled the world, seen the sites and experienced more than most people will in ten lifetimes. His daughters have been there every step of the way, encouraging and happy - or so he thought.

It is when Reid receives an emergency message from his grandparents that he, his girls and their nanny/tutor rush back to the United States. When he discovers that his grandparents have decided to retire and sell The Christmas House to Edgware, a global hospitality company, he also learns that it is up to him to make an unforgettable impression on the secret Edgware evaluator. As Reid's grandparents head off to Arizona to begin their retirement early, Reid takes his duties to heart and is determined to make this Christmas a hit at the bed and breakfast for the guests.

However, things go anything but smoothly at The Christmas House. From electrical outages to a runaway sleigh ride to doggie treat- smothered wrapping paper (which the resident pup finds quite irresistible!) nothing is going in the positive direction for Reid and The Christmas House. That is with the exception of the sizzling chemistry between him and Karina. Not only are they making a spirited connection, but so are their children.

Little does Reid know that Karina holds a deep secret—the fact that she is the uncover evaluator—and when things don't turn out so well with the evaluation and Edgware, he turns his anger to only one person—Karina. Can the Christmas season and the magic of The Christmas House spill glittery happiness and miracles on these two and their deserving children, or will forgiveness be too late in coming?

I found Holiday Affair to be an enjoyable and fun read. It wasn't a story that jumped out at me and made me say "wow", and the plotting was fairly predictable and followed the typical formula as many in the genre of contemporary romance, however it was light-hearted and fun. I loved the characters of Reid and Karina, as well as their children. All were very well developed and made me truly feel as though I was able to get to know them and connect with them. Reid comes across as a very rugged, yet sensitive man whose sexual chemistry exudes off the pages. I also loved watching as Karina developed from someone who always had the need to help, to someone who was helpful, as well as learned to put herself into life's equation, rather than always others. The children were a delight and so very different, yet fit together perfectly like a puzzle whose pieces had previously been missing.

All in all, Holiday Affair is the perfect story to curl up with under a nice warm blanket, along with a cup of hot cocoa beside you. As you read, a sense of relaxing peace is sure to envelope you and kick start those holiday feelings of excitement!
