Review
Cassie McPherson is known for being a tomboy. She lives for her family owned construction business. Though she is stuck in accounting, she longs to design her own buildings. She just needs to convince her father that she is more than ready to take on the responsibility. Now is not the time since Big Al has just had a heart attack.
Since helping run a business is time consuming, Cassie barely has time to date so she hires an escort service to show up at her social functions and she plans to do the same for her company’s Christmas party. Dressed in a skimpy outfit that her best friend has picked out, Cassie is ready to rock and roll. Then she meets the escort that actually makes her libido go into overdrive.
James Sutton can’t believe his luck. He is trying to set up a meeting with Big Al and instead he meets his beautiful daughter. His luck gets better when she thinks he is an escort there to accompany her to a holiday party. He knows he should tell her the truth but he wants to get together with her.
Cassie and James have immediate chemistry. She literally lands right into his bed and shocks even me with some of sexual forwardness. Though the sex is steamy, the connection goes much further than the physical. Cassie and James share a lot of their past and hurts with one another, cementing their bond.
Cassie’s father is set on bringing down one of their biggest competitors…Sutton Construction. James is worried that once Cassie discovers the truth, she will run out of his life. This is where I had to knock off a star because I couldn’t understand how Cassie or her four brothers didn’t realize who James was. They are all described as ruthless business owners and they didn’t even know what their competitor looked like until the very end? Very unrealistic and he has ample time to tell her the truth.
There is a secondary story between Amy (Cassie’s best friend) and Rory (Cassie’s brother) that is endearing. I love a side story but I kind of wished they could have their own book. There is enough tension and drama there to give them their own story. However, they are neatly wrapped up into this book.
Overall a nice and steamy holiday read. I can’t wait to try some more of Ms. Lane’s other books.
