After all Melanie Porter has been through recently, it's time to put her dreams first. And she starts by opening a vacation retreat outside of Melbourne. As she considers her next step, the unexpected happens. One of her guests—a friend—the very attractive Flynn Randall makes it clear he's in pursuit.
Mel is definitely tempted. Who wouldn't be?
But Flynn comes with strings that could derail her plans. First, he's part of the world she eagerly left behind. Second, he's ready for a commitment, while she's still embracing life on her own.
A resolution seems impossible until Flynn proves that she's still in the driver's seat!
Melanie Porter is rebuilding her life after an unsuccessful marriage to one of Melbourne’s wealthiest man. She has suffered for years with the psychological torment of not really fitting into the elite society and now she is ready to branch out on her own and start living her life. She has opened up her own Inn which consists of several cottages that she is taking pride in renovating. Her simple life couldn’t have gotten better but when Flynn Randall has makes an appearance in her world, she is not sure if she is willing to let go of all that she has built.
Flynn Randall remembers Mel Porter from her days in the elite society, a world that he has been privileged to be born in. He has always loved her humor and down to earth nature even when those around him snubbed her. While he does not deny his attraction to her, he has his own issues to deal with and a woman is a complication that he does not need.
Mel discovers Flynn’s green thumb and the two build an unlikely friendship when he helps her with the landscaping of her property and she, in turn, helps him with the renovation of a property of his. The relationship progresses slowly at first as Mel and Flynn gradually accept one another but when they finally do let go, the sparks fly.
Flynn is not the type of guy to lean on anyone but he finds himself wanting to share his life and problems with Mel. Because his father suffers from Alzheimer’s, he had to sacrifice his own dreams to take care of him and his mother. The loyalty and painful events are touching and the author does a great job of showing how Flynn and his family cope with the progression of the disease. I think that Flynn and Mel’s characters develop wonderfully as they struggle through the many obstacles in their path.
The story is not just a simple romance but a beautifully written tale about moving forward through all the pain that comes with life. Kudos to Sarah Mayberry for delivering such a sweet and entertaining romance!
